I left this section for last because it should be your last resort for performance (with the exception of the Nichols flywheel). Please don't take the concept of pulling off the heads and throwing in pistons as a minor thing. It is invasive and may cause oil leaks. You are allowing your mechaincs to perform drastic changes to a perfectly fine bike. You're distrubing the belts, gasket mating surfaces, and cylinder studs. Plus, it takes the shop twice as long to do pistons than to install FCRs.

• MBP collets The Martin Brickwood collets keep your closing shims on the valve.

• Nichols lightweight flywheel is a great mod. Helped my motor rev up and down quickly and also helped qwell vibrations on Zina's 900CR. It had a nasty high pitched vibe that would course through the footrests at 6000 rpm. The flywheel cured that.

• Nichols crankcase breather Very well done. These don't leak, come with instructions and a trick tool to remove and replace the original one.

• Pro Italia Large Bore Clutch Slave Cylinder This unit does reduce effort at the lever by increasing the lever travel required to perform the same amount of opening as before. I never could get it to work properly with the Barnett clutch pack on my 900SS and ended up trading it with the stock slave cylinder on the 916 I just purchased.

  Update The PI unit that Zina had been very happy with on her mostly stock CR failed at a track day! This happened after mine started leaking brake fluid on the 916. I had time to purchase a Yoyodyne unit but they ran out of those when Z's failed!
